Meet at Mary W’s house for the Fall Foliage Bike Ride with 17- and 10-mile options. Bike through Carlisle, Concord, and Bedford for 17 miles, mostly flat roads with some gently rolling hills and two hills a little more than rolling. The 10-mile ride is mostly flat with some gentle hills.
We ride past horse farms; the North Bridge where the “shot heard round the world” was fired; conservation land; lovely wooded landscapes with gorgeous, colorful foliage; and the company is great too!
Mary may need a leader for the 17-mile ride, call her if you can do it. Phone number in the event email.
At 11 am, join Neal S for an approximately 1.5 hour 2.2 mile walk in the Veterans Park in Billerica.
The path is not paved and has some easy to moderate inclines and downhills. Expect rocks and roots underfoot as well as some wet areas if there has been rain. Hiking poles would be helpful for those that use them. Bug spray for ticks etc. This should conclude about the same time as the bike rides.
Park on one side of the street only. Address in the email.
Helmets are required. Tail light or blinker recommended. Also, bring a spare tube and a water bottle.
We usually stop for ice cream, but, alas, they are all closed at the end of October.
There will be a potluck at Mary’s after the ride. She doesn’t orchestrate the food, but after all these years, no one has ever left hungry.
Please bring lawn chairs.
Please be sure to cancel online if you need to or call if canceling day of.
Rain Date: Sunday, October 25.
