We will return to Sugarloaf Resort in Carrabassett Valley Maine, where we have previously enjoyed the varied terrain of the third highest peak in Maine, with some skiing above the tree line.
For the fourth time, we will stay at the Sugarloaf Inn located on the mountain, with ski-in/ski-out facilities. The walk from the back door of the Inn to the chairlift is short, and the lift takes us directly to the main Sugarloaf Plaza. From there, it is easy to buy tickets or refill RIFD cards and hop onto lifts to begin a day of fantastic skiing.
All trails lead to the slope side of Sugarloaf Alpine Village, which offers some restaurants and shops. In addition, besides alpine skiing, Sugarloaf also has The Outdoor Center, Maine’s largest Nordic center, for cross-country skiers tucked into the woods just minutes from the base area. The lodge has a full Nordic retail shop, rental center, and café – all surrounded by some of the most picturesque trails in New England. The Sugarloaf Explorer Shuttle provides transportation to that area along its route.
We have reserved single and double rooms, each with its own bath, for about 20 people. While the Inn has no elevator, the friendly staff will readily take luggage up to the rooms upon request. The second floor is the location of the Shipyard Brew Haus restaurant, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available.
This year, breakfast is not included. The cost is $100.00 for five days, and the option needs to be stated and added to the reservation, or choose from the Shipyard Brewhouse Menu and pay each day as other guests do.
The Inn is allowing the purchase of a limited 5-day breakfast option with a choice of two menu items:
- The White Cap – breakfast sandwich with two over medium eggs, American cheese, and a choice of meat, served on an English muffin with home fries.
- The Birches – two eggs any style, home fries, choice of meat and toast.
The Shipyard brewhouse menu can be viewed at: https://ship- yardbrewhaussugarloaf.com/menus/ They are closed for the season right now but will open in the fall.
Ski lockers are located on the second floor near the back deck so that exit to the slope with equipment in-hand is easy.
