We will be walking a 3-4 mile distance in Callahan State Park in the northwest corner of Framingham. It is a little known State Park (except to locals) that is described as being "undeveloped " -- which means there are no toilet facilities. At one time the area was used for fox hunts. Now it is used for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and dog walking. Although the trails are fairly gentle, there are the usual New England rocks and roots to deal with.
We will meet in the unmarked parking lot at 1048 Edmands Road, Framingham at 10:30am
as usual bring water and bug spray.
Directions:
From Rte 9 traveling West take the exit in Framingham marked Rte 30, Framingham/Southborough (approximately 1 mile West of the Natick Mall). At the top of the ramp/traffic light turn right onto Edgell Road. Continue North on Edgell Rd for 3 miles to the traffic light/intersection with Edmands Rd. Turn Left onto Edmands. Beware the speed tables/humps on this road - there is one in about 1/4 mile and 5 more a mile after that! After the stop sign you will pass Wayside Inn Rd and the Quaker Meeting House on the right. Continue to the large unmarked parking lot on the left. The distance from the traffic light to the lot is approximately 2 1/2 miles. I will try to erect a temporary sign at the entrance.
From Rte 9 traveling east take the exit marked Edgell Rd/Main Street Framingham. At the traffic light turn left onto Edgell Rd and follow the directions above.
From Rte 20 in Sudbury turn South towards Framingham onto Nobscot Road. There is a sign and traffic light at this turn. Travel 2.3miles to traffic light intersection with Edmands Road. Turn Right onto Edmands and follow the directions above.
