Enjoy a 20 plus mile ride and view peak foliage on the easy & quiet Northern Rail Trail, the longest rail trail in New England at 48 miles one way. The basic ride planned is as far as Webster Lake in Franklin, about 11 miles each way but more adventurous riders can go further, such as to Mt Kearsarge State Park in Andover, NH. People can also do fewer miles if needed as all rides are an out and back. We can have lunch at the eclectic Granny Judy's Kitchen, 71 N. Main St. Franklin. There is also a small sand beach at Webster Lake that would be a great spot to have a picnic. Bring adequate fluids and emergency food plus spare tube, pump, and patch kit.
Helmets are required and a bell or horn is recommended. Hybrid, Cross, and Gravel bikes are best suited for this trail of hard packed dirt & crushed stone plus mountain bikes work well too. Road bikes can be used but not recommended although if you have 700 x 28 tires or larger you will be fine. The start is in Boscawen, NH at 10:30 AM which is just north of Concord, NH.
Directions: Take Rt I-93 N. to Exit 17 from I-93, go WEST on US- Route 3 & 4 for 3.4 miles, Turn RIGHT on Depot St to the trail head.
Note: This ride is in conjunction with the North Shore Cyclist.
