Six TOHG members bundled up for the cold and set off from Nashua to Ayer on a 25 mile round trip bike ride along the Nashua River to downtown Ayer. We passed a few farms along the way where beef cattle, horses, goats and chickens eyed us warily as we rode past. We had the trail to ourselves most of the time due to the weather which allowed us to ride side by side often. Toward the Groton/Ayer portion we passed a pond with a pair of beautiful swans gracing the pond.
Stopping for coffee in downtown Ayer we enjoyed each others company before saddling up and making our way back hoping for the chance of warmer rides before the snow flies.

"Third time's a Charm". The weather forecast was for a beautiful, warm October day, and it did not disappoint. The sun shone, temperatures rose to the high 70s, and it was a perfect day for a 29-mile round trip to Colt State Park. Four members responded to the last-minute call for this impromptu ride, which offers views over the bay and various ponds, a lighthouse, and fall colors. We stopped for lunch at the park. A special treat: there are always kites at the park and sailboats on Narragansett Bay.

Five members and two guests of the Hub Mystery Group enjoyed a private tour of the recently donated Lynch Collection at the McMullen Museum of Art at Boston College. The collection comprises 27 paintings and 3 drawings by 19th and early 20th century artists, mostly American. Our very knowledgeable docent, Phyllis Meyer, provided the history and artistic technique of the paintings by such well-known artists as Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent and Fitz Henry Lane among others. The drawings in the collection were by Mary Cassatt, Pablo Picasso and Diego Riviera.
It was a warm and sunny day, so after enjoying our tour we walked down the hill to the BC Cafe 129 where we enjoyed lunch and conversation - and then we walked back up the hill to where our cars were parked!

Eight riders gathered on a beautiful fall day with temps in the 70’s. We rode from the Daly Memorial Ice Rink in Newton along the Boston side of the Charles River, then the Cambridge side, to the Museum of Science. From the museum, we crossed Storrow Drive via the new foot bridge to Charles Street where we visited the new Beacon Hill Book Store.
After coffee across the street at Tatte Bakery & Cafe, we headed back along the Boston side of the river for a total ride of about 16 miles.
We enjoyed seeing the Charles in its many forms with lots of rowers in their shells

Ten TOHG Walking group members enjoyed a beautiful autumn day and walked from 2 to 6 miles along the trail. The foliage along Louisa Lake in Milford was lovely and we had a chance to chat and catch up with each other along the way.
After the walk eight of us met up at Prezo Grille & Bar in Milford for more conversation and good food. We welcomed Sharon G. a new TOHG walking member.

The weather cooperated for our ride on the Tri Community Greenway. We rode through Stoneham, then to Woburn under Rt 93 through the graffiti decorated tunnel. The path then followed the Aberjona River into Winchester. After riding along the Woburn spur we made the ride around Horn Pond. The foliage reflecting on the water and the swans were highlights. We stopped for a photo along the path at a memorial stone dedicated to my parents. Then it was back to downtown Winchester for a snack. We covered about 13 miles. Kimm S

Eight of us met at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA on a beautiful fall day. We viewed the Ceding Ground exhibit inside and the beautiful grounds and pond outback. This exhibit was a view of our changing climate through the eyes of six photographers all grasping with the question of the effects of climate change, through loss of habitat, groundwater fluctuation and man's intervention in the landscape.
The exhibit viewing was followed by lunch at the Black Horse Tavern in Winchester. Many of us had never been to this museum and agreed it was worth returning.

More than just the activities, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made this event so special.
The welcome party was excellent, with cocktails and snacks at the bar followed by tasty, abundant dinner and desserts. Every morning, the freshly baked breakfasts and Paul’s masterfully brewed coffee were a perfect way to start our days.
Lodging at the Lawrencian Club was a treat, a comfortable and cozy retreat for all of us to relax and enjoy. We heard about the club before this trip, but to experience it was way better.
The golf courses were a perfect selection, especially the Hales Location, where the expectations were low for a nine-hole golf course, but it was outstanding, impeccably manicured, and scenic.
Thank you to Paul and the Lawrentian members for hosting an absolutely fantastic golf trip.

A group of 12 paddlers gathered at Foote Brothers Canoe and Kayak in Ipswich on a gorgeous morning, October 4th - summer temps with fall foliage! We paddled upstream for over an hour and then enjoyed a quick paddle back. We saw a few turtles, a kingfisher, and dragonflies.
After posing for a group photo we headed to the Clam Box in Ipswich for lunch. A fun time was had by all.
