It was a windy day in Boston as a dozen Gang members set out to bike from Pope John Paul II Park to Castle Island.
Our route took us through the park, Port Norfolk neighbourhood, the iconic natural gas tanks along the southeast expressway and finally the South Boston waterfront. Passing UMass, Kennedy Library and Commonwealth Museum we had spectacular views of Boston harbour. A little further and we biked along Tenean Beach before reaching Castle Island and Sullivan’s, famed for their hot dogs and fried clams. Stopping for a bite to eat we dined al fresco at the picnic tables in front watching and listening to a steady stream of aircraft overhead descending to Logan Airport.
Our return ride to Pope John Paul II Park had a nice tail wind to help us along and give weary muscles a bit of a break.
