Before the TOHG Annual Picnic nine members of the walking group walked an easy two miles on the rail trail. Even though the temperature was in the upper 80’s the paved bike trail was mostly shaded. As the trail was quite busy with bikers, some of whom were TOHG members, we needed to spread out a bit on the trail. Along the way we spotted a great blue heron in the marsh area, the orange butterfly weed that is a favorite of Monarchs, and a spotted wintergreen in bloom.
We returned just as the bikers finished their ride and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying good company and good food.
