What a wonderful week 42 of us had at Whitefish, MT. It started out with a foot of new powder, which challenged most of us. The rest of the week was glorious with newly-groomed powder and warmer temperatures. Locals told us we caught the best week of the entire season. The mountain is huge with many intermediate and advanced trails and spectacular views including the Snow Ghosts—shapes created by snow on the pine trees. Some looked like animals.
The Kandahar Lodge was elegantly rustic with large comfortable rooms and a wonderful fireplaced lobby large enough to hold all of us plus a few new friends. apres-ski in the lobby was a lot of fun with snacks, drinks, and conversation as well as cribbage games. The town of Whitefish, seven miles away, was easily accessed by the free S.N.O.W. Bus we rode several times to visit the town, shop, and dine. Group dinners at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake and the Hellroaring Saloon were enjoyed by all. Our last night ended with dinner and a showing of Fran O’N.’s videos of past ski trips.
We can’t wait to return!
