The first couple of months of the year (because of the ski season), it is usual for the “Gang" to have just lunch and no “mystery". This time, I thought we should try something different. Four of our “Gang” SW members (Skip/Mary C, Marco/Ines A) have joined a sports facility near Foxboro called ForeKicks and are now aficionados of the game “pickleball.” WHAT’S PICKLEBALL ???- This is a game resembling tennis in which players use paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over a net.
We set up a surprise for the remaining 10 members of our group to sit on some bleachers at the sports center to watch them play this fascinating game. Marco preceded the game with some basics of how to play and how to keep score. It was a fun time for all of us to watch how proficient they are and how much they enjoy the sport. I am sure that since they were former tennis and Ping-Pong players helped a great deal. After a couple of games we went for a lovely lunch at the Horse and Carriage to talk about our entertainment of the morning. (A few of us are tempted to give it a try).
